Hydrostatic Testing & Drying
Montauk's technicians fill high pressure gas mains with water utilizing a specialty pig that eliminates entrapped air regardless of line length, offsets, or elevational changes. After stabilization, we proceed to conduct a high pressure test (up to 10,000 psi) utilizing the latest in hydro pump technology, certified and calibrated dead weights, gauges, pressure and temperature recorders. After a successful test we then de-water the system and, if required, dry the pipe line to a minus dew point.
Caliper Pigging
On long pipe lines that require periodic "smart pigging", Montauk, utilizing a caliper pig, will insure that there are no anomalies or restrictions that will cause future problems for the "smart pigs" passage.
Grouting/Inerting
For fuel systems that are scheduled for abandonment or removal, Montauk will pig and salvage whatever product is in the line. We then can either inert the pipe for hot work or fill the underground line with a flowable concrete fill containing patented foam which allows up to a 1,000' of pipe to be filled in one continuous run.
Specialty Pigging
Few companies have the experience and industry knowledge to undertake the "impossible." Pictured below is a pig, built exclusively to remove coral from a 12 foot diameter intake for a nuclear plant in Florida. Two passes of this pig removed the build up and allowed the plant to return to full capacity.
